Shifting Gears United collaborates with disability groups and agencies to offer accessible kayaking adventures. Our fleet includes stable tandem sit-on-top kayaks and inflatable paddleboards suitable for paddlers of all ages and most disabilities. Participants receive guidance from experienced instructors and are assisted by trained volunteers. Please note, this activity is for groups only and is NOT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

SGU provides kayaks, paddleboards, paddles, and PFDs (personal flotation device). Adaptive equipment is available for an enjoyable, functional, and safe experience. Wearing a PFD properly is mandatory while on the water.
Please wear appropriate attire (avoid jeans, sweatpants, sweatshirts) and prepare to get wet. Footwear is encouraged for protection. Remember to bring a hat, sunglasses with holders, prescriptive glasses holders, sunscreen, towels, and personal items. Avoid bringing valuables like wallets, cell phones, or cameras onto the kayak. Bottled water will be provided. Notify us of special requests or needs upon arrival.
We welcome volunteers, especially those knowledgeable in kayaking and paddleboarding. Volunteers should arrive 30 minutes early for setup and remain 30 minutes post-event for cleanup and storage.
